Welcome to Lauren & Susan Crompton's website created to raise awareness and to educate people on the plight of stray and rescued animals everywhere.
In our area of Florenceville, New Brunswick, Canada, we are trying to raise funds for the "DunRoamin' Stray and Rescue Fund." Lauren and I, as well as many other wonderful people, are dedicated to helping strays in our local communities by raising money to treat their medical needs and to help find them loving homes. Our ultimate goal is to raise enough interest and money to have a shelter in our area.
"DunRoamin'" means just that: they're all done roaming and they are now safe at last and ready to be given a comfortable home with all the love they deserve.
Since starting this web site in May of 2006 for our daughter Lauren, I cannot tell you the countless blessings that I continue to receive. Your response to this site for the stray and rescued animals has been "unbelievable". Even though Lauren cannot speak with words like you or I, she has countless ways to get her point across. Check out the story about our cat "Monquart" on the Pet Memorial page and maybe you will understand exactly what I mean.
Lauren has taught me so much about life and what is really important. This child has great insight into life and great determination that can only be "God" given. Lauren is in one way like the animals that we are so hard trying to help. They both need our voices to speak for them.
If you would like to help this cause, it can be done in so many ways: you can make cash donations to the fund, you can donate the cost of a spay or neuter for a stray, donate in honor of a birthday, in memory of a loved one or a pet. You could donate Co-Op Cash or Canadian Tire money. We will have various fund-raising events in the coming months. If you or your children would like to help us raise funds, it would be very much appreciated.
Other shelters are full, and without our own shelter to house these animals we are in dire need of foster homes for both cats and dogs until a permanent home can be found for them.
If you or someone you know would like to help, please call 328-3380.

Our funds are very limited and our needs are great.
DunRoamin' Stray and Rescue is for stray and rescued animals who have no one to care for them.

As advocates for animals, we want to do everything we can to help each and every animal in need.

Unfortunately, WE DO NOT HAVE A SHELTER BUILDING and must rely on the kindness of volunteers to foster the animals we receive. For this reason we try to restrict ourselves to accepting animals who have no one else to care for them. The Florenceville Veterinary Clinic tries to accommodate as many needy animals as possible, but the numbers of animals present in the clinic can make day-to-day work difficult. WE MUST STRESS THAT THE CLINIC IS NOT A SHELTER, BUT A BUSINESS that devotes large quantities of time and resources to the betterment of these animals' lives.

As such, we are always happy to help as much as possible with strays - treating for parasites, donating food, etc, but we CANNOT accept healthy strays since filling our limited space may mean that sick or injured strays badly in need of our help could not be accommodated. Therefore, we always ask our callers if they are able to keep these strays warm and fed, as well as trying to find homes for these animals.
With regard to owned animals, we receive many calls from people who want to be rid of their animal and ask us to accept them. We cannot. Please try to find homes for them by yourself. Put up posters, place a free ad in the VALLEY BUY AND SELL Local: 246-5318 or Toll Free 1-800-505-1177. Many people place the animal on FACEBOOK or kijiji and have had excellent luck.
As well, in our attempt to help animals our web site has a pet notice board where you can advertise your animals FREE OF CHARGE. Please go to the PET NOTICES link for more information.
(This notice board is not for animals that are for sale by breeders.)
SPAYING AND NEUTERING SAVES LIVES AND PREVENTS THE
ABUSE AND SUFFERING OF UNWANTED ANIMALS.
The shelters everywhere are full of peoples unwanted animals. Only call them after you have tried all the other ways to find them a new home.

"Together we can make a difference"

In honor of the wonderful men and women who serve this great country of ours, we would like to invite you to wear RED every Friday, thus called "RED FRIDAY," until our troops are safely home again. Please keep them in your prayers.
Since we started the DunRoamin’ Stray And Rescue Fund in May, 2006, we have accomplished much more than we ever dreamed. Due to the generosity and concern of people like yourself for stray and injured animals, we have rescued, treated, vaccinated, spayed, neutered, performed life-sustaining surgeries, found warm, loving, safe and permanent homes and many other positive things for more than 500 ANIMALS!
In addition, we are now working on our sixth feral cat community. Each feral cat will be caught, and examined by a veterinarian. Any medical needs will be addressed such as injuries, ear mites, fleas, worms, etc, and the animal will be spayed or neutered. If it is too wild to be placed in a home, it will be returned to its community, and we'll help to ensure food and shelter will be available.
Any cats living in a feral community who are not yet completely wild will be placed in a permanent home if possible. This ensures the cats are healthy, will not continue to breed, and that their lives are better and safer. Please check out our website at www.bekindtogodscreatures.com. There’s a link there for feral cats. They really need our help. Without it, the colonies will continue to grow. There will then be less food, and many (too many of whom are baby kittens) will die from predators, injuries, disease, starvation, hypothermia, etc . We can help make sure this doesn’t happen.
Our ultimate goal is to have a shelter in our area. The shelters surrounding our area are not large enough to accommodate the huge number of strays in our communities. If feral colonies are controlled, if more people spay and neuter their pets, if more people are aware of the plight of animals, and if more people can get involved and help, we have a chance of achieving this goal. We appreciate your help.
